A Divine Adventure

My name is Deneys Williamson and I am a seminarian from the Diocese of Johannesburg, South Africa. I am in my fourth and final year of theology studies at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross and I wish to express my deepest appreciation for your help.

I am also grateful to my professors and spiritual director who have helped me to better understand my responsibilities. They taught me that in order to be a good priest, I must first be a good man.

It is difficult to explain the good influence this formation has had on me. When I first arrived, I would wake up in the morning thinking about how to live that day most comfortably, avoiding any stress and unpleasantness of daily life.

Now I see each day as a divine adventure, in which I discover and accept the will of God, my Father. It is wonderful to live this way. It has changed my perspective, and it has all been possible thanks to you.

I realize that I must use the gifts of intelligence and freedom to discover what God desires of me, doing my best to organize my time, which is His gift to me.

Next year, God willing, I will be ordained a deacon and return to South Africa to start the next chapter of my vocation. The principles I have learned in Rome will be the foundation of my priestly ministry.

May the Lord bless you abundantly and reward you with health and joy; I am praying for you and your intentions!
